Songlines Top of The World selection in April 2020 issue:
“This Estonian accordionist’s work is imbued with a sense of journey and this, the title-track from her new album, conjures images of swirling forest mists and other vistas of enchantment.” - Songlines
“I would love to go on a long, long walk with Tuulikki Bartosik, gently humming as the leaves rustle underfoot, and the birds sing high in the trees. This album is rather like that, ushered in by the sweetest birdsong before the accordion becomes our guide. The landscape and nature of Estonia has shaped her thinking, musically and personally, and while she is capable of delicious wildness and daring collaborations, there’s a real intimacy in her music, which is one of the great strengths of ‘Tempest in a Teapot’. From start to finish these songs are compelling performances from one of the finest of accordionists, and it’s all been sensitively produced by legendary Swedish saxophonist and teacher Jonas Knutsson.” - Fiona Talkington
Bartosik’s Storied Sounds was excellent. This is even better; mellifluous and gracefully flowing. She’s found her voice and it’s rather wonderful. – Chris Nickson, rootsworld.com
Tempest In A Teapot is the Estonian accordion stylist and musical experimenter’s second solo album, the follow-up to 2016’s internationally acclaimed Storied Sounds. Her new album is, she continues, a “story about me, my roots and where I find myself – the longing for nature and friends, how I work as an individual in nature, the desire to find a place in the world and also in the musical world. I hope it helps people think about their own lives, to find themselves in it.” Coursing through Tempest In A Teapot are the atmosphere of Philip Glass and Terry Riley. There is a kinship with Iceland’s Ólafur Arnalds and German minimalist Hauschka’s Abandoned City album.
